Our history
1913 was quite a year for architectural debuts in New York City. Landmark openings that year included Grand Central Terminal, Ebbets Field, and the Woolworth Building, which at the time was the world’s tallest skyscraper.
We feel a special connection to 1913 because that’s the year construction was completed on our trio of buildings at 147-149 Prospect Park Southwest and 250 Seeley Street. While many people covet the ambiance of prewar buildings, our home stands out as pre-WWI. As real estate professionals would say, we've got great bones.
Some architectural flourishes of that age survive today, like our coffered ceilings, marble staircases, and the original wrought-iron fence that wraps around the property and that we restored in 2011.
Other details made way for modern times. Our first capital improvement project was to shut down the gaslight-era lighting lines in our ceilings. Since then, we’ve installed contemporary upgrades like video intercoms and LED lighting in all public areas of the property.
Ongoing improvements have a focus on green projects. See the Our Sustainability Roadmap page for details.
